Dr. Paul C. McCann formerly of JP Dies at Age 87

South Boston native was a surgeon and veteran of World War II and the Korean War.

Paul C. McCann, MD, died peacefully at home in Hull on February 4. Dr. McCann leaves his loving wife Anne M. (Craig) McCann. He was 87.

Dr. McCann was born in South Boston and lived many years in Hull and Jamaica Plain. He was the youngest of nine children and graduated from Boston College High School, Boston College, and Boston University School of Medicine.

Dr. McCann was a surgeon at Carney Hospital for many years, as well as a visiting physician at St. Margarets Hospital. Dr. McCann was a surgeon in the Army and achieved the rank of captain in the Army while serving during World War II and the Korean War. He was also a member of the American Medical Society, American College of Surgeons, and Boston Surgical Society.

Dr. McCann is survived by his loving wife Anne M. (Craig) McCann and his four children – Susan McCann of Hull; Jean Kenney of Hull; Paul McCann, and his wife Melodie, of Hull; and Patrick McCann of Quincy. He is also survived by five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Dr. McCann was the brother of Sister Marie McCann, CSJ, of Framingham. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visitation on Monday, February 7, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Keohane Funeral Home on 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.) in Hingham.

A celebration of life service will be held at 9:15 a.m. on Tuesday, February 8, at the Keohane Funeral Home.

A  funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, February 8, at St. Mary of the Assumption Parish in St. Ann's Church at Samoset Ave. and Lewis Street in Hull.

Internet will be at the Hull Village Cemetery.

En lieu of flowers, donations in Dr. McCanns memory may be made to St. Mary of the Assumption Parish, Samoset Ave. and Lewis St., Hull, Massachusetts 02045.
