Driver in 2014 Jamaica Plain Crash Takes Plea Deal
Brian Johnson pleaded guilty to negligent operation of a motor vehicle in an accident near the Shea Rotary that injured another driver.

JAMAICA PLAIN, MA - A Dorchester man has opted not to stand trial for his role in a 2014 car crash near the Shea Rotary that left another motorist injured.
Brian Johnson, 27, pleaded guilty to a charge of negligent operation of a motor vehicle in Boston Municipal Court Wednesday.
According to the Suffolk County District Attorney's office, prosecutors initially sought an additional charge of operating under the influence of drugs, but withdrew that count in light of a technicality in Massachusetts state law requiring proof beyond a reasonable doubt of what specific drug impaired him.

No drugs or paraphernalia were found in Johnson's vehicle, leaving that impossible to prove.
Johnson will be sentenced June 2; he faces a maximum of two years in a house of correction. Prosecutors will seek committed time, and the Registry of Motor Vehicles is expected to revoke Johnson's driver's license, according to the District Attorney's office.
