Drum Dream Girl StoryWalk

Celebrate Hispanic Heriage Month with Hyde Square Task Force in Boston's Latin Quarter at this family-friendly event.

October 3, 2015, 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM, Connolly Branch Library, 433 Centre Street, JP

Family-friendly and ideal for children ages 3-10, the Drum Dream Girl StoryWalk will lead families through the neighborhood of Boston’s Latin Quarter reading pages of the story placed in various storefronts. The final stop will be at Hyde Square Task Force’s Youth Community Development Center for a Latin Percussion workshop led by female youth leaders of Hyde Square Task Force’s Dale Percussion Ensemble. Drum Dream Girl, by Margarita Engle and Rafael López, tells the story of a courageous Latina girl who broke tradition and entered the male-dominated world of Cuban percussion players.
