English Boys Basketball Falls to West Roxbury

Ingram leads the Blue and Blue, but they fall 66-44 to West Roxbury.

In a tale of two halves, the boys basketball team failed to clear the final hurdle losing to Boston City (South) League-foe West Roxbury, 66-44, Friday night.

“We couldn’t climb over that hill,” said English head coach Barry Robinson.

The Blue and Blue committed 19 turnovers in the first half, but they collected themselves during the break, and had only six in the remaining portion of the game.

“That made a big difference,” said Robinson. “We made a commitment to really work harder. I told them let’s go out with some pride and that’s what they did.”

Hassan Ingram, a senior center, led the Blue and Blue with 13 points.

“We need him,” said Robinson. “Without him we would have been blown out by 40 points. He’s a presence in the middle.”

English, 2-3 in the league and 2-4 overall, will look to rebound Wednesday when they host Durfee for a 7 p.m. game.
