English Softball Builds Bond In Loss

The softball team began the season in disappointing fashion Wednesday losing to Hyde Park, 22-2, but through adversity, cohesiveness forms.

“Our girls were cheering and encouraging each other,” said Blue and Blue head coach Maria Gonzalez-Baugh. “The club has formed a unique bond and unity early in the season that will carry them through anything.”

The Blue and Blue, who were without one of their seasoned pitchers, tallied two runs when Kristina Colon and Leurisse Lorenzo crossed the plate.

Despite the loss, Gonzalez-Baugh said one player told her, “we earned experience.”

“All I can tell you is that we are going to do better,” said the coach.

English will attempt to reverse its fortunes as it takes on Snowden Monday at 3:30 p.m.
