English Softball Season Ends on Forfeit

Two forfeits in a row spelled the end of the season for the softball team.

It has been a struggle for the Blue and Blue this season, and they were unable to fulfill the required number of players for last Friday’s and this Monday’s contests. That leaves English winless on the season at 0-9.

“I don’t think they realized after two forfeits, that it ends the season,” said Blue and Blue assistant coach Ann Minichino. “They were upset when the found that out. But they made a commitment. I told them they have to honor that commitment.”

But the coach went on to say that next year will be different as they have team-building activities and strategy meetings already planned for the fall.

“We will be better next year,” she said. “Most of the team will be returning next year. They want to play.”
