David Friedman and Charlie Fox present an illustrated lecture on the fascinating history of The Eliot School, including the famous Eliot School Rebellion. The Eliot School was founded in Jamaica Plain in 1676 as a grammar school, and accepted Africans, Native Americans, and colonial children without discrimination. Today, the school is called The Eliot School of Fine and Applied Arts and is located near its original location. It currently offers classes and workshops for children and adults in woodworking, sewing, painting, drawing, photography, and other crafts.
