Through her longtime involvement as a Boston Public School parent, organizer, and School Committee member, Jamaica Plain resident Susan Naimark has come to believe that we will never get to quality public education for all children until we understand and address the deep legacy of racism and racial privilege. In her new book, The Education of a White Parent: Wrestling with Race & Opportunity in the Boston Public Schools, Susan shares her learnings as a white, middle class parent who sent her children through our city’s public schools. Accompanying her for a lively and interactive evening will be teens working with the JP Equity Collaborative’s Racial Healing & Reconciliation Team.
