You’re Invited to the Jamaica Plain Spring Fling Clothing Swap

An afternoon of “Fun, Fashion and Philanthropy” … Recycle Your Gems & Renew Your Wardrobe… for women and men… all sizes and all seasons

How it Works.

Swapping is not only a great way to revamp your wardrobe and have a ball - it is also a super environmentally-friendly thing to do. You’re diverting clothes from landfill, cutting carbon emissions, opting for fashion without exploitation AND saving money!

Bring at least three new, like-new or gently worn and clean items to swap:  clothing, shoes, hats, bags, belts, scarves, jewelry (sorry, no lingerie, swimwear, exercise gear or children’s clothing).  All sizes welcome, multi-seasonal. Please put jewelry into ziplock bags, and pin things together that come in pairs so they stay that way.

Remember:  bring only things that you are proud to pass on. If you wouldn’t lend it to a friend, don’t bring it to the swap! We screen garments to uphold the quality. Event organizers have the final say is what’s swappable and what’s not!

Swapping is done on a one-for-one exchange. For each swappable item you bring, you'll get a ticket.  You can then go home with as many items as you brought!

Anything left over after the swap will be donated to Morgan Memorial Goodwill Industries of Massachusetts.

To get your $2 cash back AND to qualify for Express check-in, drop off your clothes in advance! Drop off is Friday 4/13 from 6pm to 8pm AND Saturday 4/14 from 9am to 11am (or by arrangement, email Sarah Hawkins at firstchurchswap@gmail.com)

Swapping from 1pm to 4pm.

Swapping begins at 1pm. If you’ve arranged for Express Check-in, you’ll just zip right through after you get your swap tickets and your name’s been checked off the list.

If you don’t drop your clothes off in advance (before 11am on Saturday), you’ll be able to check in at 1pm. Bring your swappables to the check-in table for screening, pay your admission, and get your swap tickets!

Items from local artists and area shops will be raffled off, and we’ll also have refreshments available for sale - so bring some cash to purchase those items.

There will also be music and other surprises!

Want to Volunteer?

We need just a few more volunteers to make the event really rock.  Not only are you helping a great cause, you’ll also get FREE admission!  Volunteers are needed Friday April 13^th from 6pm to 9pm and Saturday from 9am to 6pm. Just a few of the things we need help with:

• Setting up/breaking down
• Sorting clothes
• Keeping the swapping area and dressing rooms neat
• Checking in/Checking out
• Musicians
• Food servers
• Food donations
• Raffle ticket sales
