Public Meeting: Asian Longhorned Beetle (ALB)

In the Jamaica Plain neighborhood of Boston, the Massachusetts ALB Cooperative Eradication Program will begin using control treatments via direct injection on ALB susceptible trees starting Wednesday, June 1.  Approximately 3,200 trees will be injected within the Jamaica Plain area of the city of Boston.  The treatment area represents a ¼ mile radius around the infested trees removed in July 2010.  Program staff will begin collecting releases from residents in May, as participation is voluntary.  To help address concerns and answer questions, the program will be hosting two public meetings—each meeting is open to the public.
Thursday, April 28 from 7:00 p.m.—9:00 p.m. at the Faulkner Hospital Auditorium, located at 1153 Center Street, in Boston, and Saturday, April 30 from 10:00 a.m.—12:00 p.m. at the Franklin Park Clubhouse, located at 1 Circuit Drive, in Boston.  We invite you, your family and friends to attend and learn more about the control treatments taking place in your community.  Together, we can eradicate the Asian Longhorned Beetle and protect your trees.
