Presented by the Jamaica Plain Historical Society, Richard Heath will give a talk entitled Robert Treat Paine and Affordable Housing. Paine was a social reformer and philanthropist. He was also chairman of Boston's Trinity Church building committee.
Paine is known for constructing affordable housing for poor and middle class workers. Two of his best known developments are a brick row-house development on Greenwich and Sussex streets in Roxbury (listed on the National Register of Historic Places) and a 100-house subdivision built in the 1890's in Jamaica Plain between Sunnyside and Round Hill Streets.
