Summer Fun at Jamaica Pond Children’s Festival

The Boston Parks and Recreation Department’s ParkARTS program, generously supported by Bank of America, is hosting the Summer Fun at the Pond children’s festival on Saturday, June 9, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Jamaica Pond Boathouse in Jamaica Plain.

The festival promises to be an entertaining way for people to come together and celebrate summer on the shores of the “jewel of the Emerald Necklace.”

Those families feeling adventurous can explore the water on discounted sailboat rides courtesy of Courageous Sailing.  If you prefer staying on land, professional actor-puppeteer Charlotte Anne Dore of Rosalita’s Puppets will put on a whimsical puppet show.  During the afternoon, people can have their face painted and also participate in an exciting magic show, sponsored by NStar.

In addition, enjoy Disney•Pixar’s “Brave” activities and giveaways including advance screening passes.  “Brave” uncovers a new tale in the mysterious Highlands of Scotland where the headstrong Merida defies an age-old custom and inadvertently unleashes chaos, forcing her to discover the meaning of true bravery before it’s too late. “Brave” opens in theatres June 22.
