Falling Tree Crushes Car After Strong Winds Batter Area

A massive, falling tree crushed a car in Brookline Sunday morning as strong winds and heavy rains battered the area.

An individual was operating the vehicle on Beacon Street when the tree came crashing down. The motorist was transported to the hospital for treatment, officials say.

It’s not known if the driver was injured. The vehicle sustained significant damage.

Periods of saturating rain and gusty winds likely caused the tree to become uprooted. Upwards of an inch of rain fell across the region, according to the National Weather Service.
