Fatal Jamaica Plain Violence: Shooting Leaves 2 Dead

Two people are dead after a double shooting in JP late Friday night.

BOSTON, MA — Two people are dead following a shooting late Friday night in Jamaica Plain. The shooting took place in a courtyard outside a housing complex near Jackson Square.

Both people were taken to Boston Medical Center. One of them, who Boston Police Commissioner William Evans said was in his mid-50s, was pronounced dead. The other victim, who Evans said was in his 20s, was in critical condition but later succumbed to his injuries.

They were the 17th and 18th homicides of the year in Boston.

Police have not made an arrest and are asking for the public's help as they canvassed the area. Evans said there were a lot of potential witnesses. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the department’s homicide unit at 617-343-4470.
