FREE AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS FOR TEENS!
Teen Artists that attend a Boston Public Highschool invited to apply! Deadline 9/18 for our Video, Sound, Poetry, Performance + programs!
Urbano Project brings together teens and professional artists to create collaborative works of public art that address social justice issues affecting our communities. Students get paid a stipend at the end of the term for their work. For the next two years we are focusing on Egleston Square as a site for our Artists’ Projects.

All teens who become part of Urbano....
· Participate in weekly after-school sessions with collaboration from a professional artist/mentor and peers
· Participate in special sessions with visiting artists, activists, community organizers, and cultural workers
· Meet one Friday a month with peers and artists from across Boston for an Assembly, pizza and open mic
· Collaborate to produce and host a professional-quality exhibition/performance and public event at the end of every term
· Participate in youth convenings, exchanges, public events, civic engagement activities, exhibitions and performances at Boston museums, universities, and community/cultural organizations
· Earn a stipend or paycheck for participating in a project from beginning to completion
· Have free snacks at every Urbano session
· Receive transit passes if needed
· Have access to Urbano’s studio facilities and library/art book collection
· Are eligible to receive high school credit through the BPS Arts Expansion High School Credit-Bearing Program, if their school participates
· Are eligible to participate in special exhibition and event opportunities available to alumni
· Students active in the program can receive individual support to achieve high school, college prep and career development goals, including:
o assistance identifying scholarships, internships, and enrichment activities
o documentation to fulfill requirements for community service hours
o writing of recommendation letters
o referrals to organizations and services as needed
o communication with parents and teachers as needed
o support with portfolio development for youth applying to arts programs
o visits with admissions staff from Emerson College, MassArts, School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Harvard University, and other area colleges and universities
Teens in Artists’ Projects
· Meet 3:30-6:30pm twice a week during the school year
· Earn a $250 stipend per semester project, if participating from beginning through to completion
· Are eligible to apply to the Urbano Fellows program after completing two semesters in Artists’ Projects
