Hyde Square Task Force to host Latin Quarter Fiesta: Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month

Hyde Square Task Force will be hosting a Latin Quarter Fiesta September 17th, that is free and open to the public!

JAMAICA PLAIN, BOSTON – Saturday September 17, 2016 from 12-6PM Hyde Square Task Force (HSTF) will host the Latin Quarter Fiesta in Mozart Park, located in the Jamaica Plain (JP) neighborhood of Boston

Visitors can expect the very best of Boston’s Latin Quarter through music, games, zumba, interactive art, food, and crafts. The event will feature Boston-based artists DJ Lizito, Belén Cusi (performance 1-3 pm), and Chicomanía (performance 4-6 pm). The competitive domino tournament will be run by the Boston Warriors, the leading domino team in the state. A free zumba class will be led by Gerardina Arias-Halloran, who teaches weekly classes in Boston and at HSTF’s summer series. Alex Cook will facilitate an interactive mural project and food and craft vendors will be from the area, so visitors can rest assured that they are supporting local businesses and artists.

“The Fiesta is a great opportunity to spend time outdoors in an exciting neighborhood of Boston while celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month, activating the park, and engaging Afro-Latin artists,” says Brenda Rodriguez Andujar, Director of Arts and Cultural Programs at Hyde Square Task Force. The purpose of the Fiesta is to celebrate Hispanic heritage and culture, support local businesses and artists, and encourage community members to get out in their neighborhood. Of course, this is not new for HSTF, who has been involved in the Latin Quarter for over 20 years.
