Ten Tables Cambridge Co-owner Looks to Open Similar Style Restaurant in Newton

A letter posted from the Ten Tables Cambridge co-owner indicates that the Newton Centre restaurant would be similar to Ten Tables' Cambridge location — but it will not be named Ten Tables.

[Editor's note: Important correction — The original post wrongly stated a new Ten Tables is planned for Newton. That is not true. This story has been updated to reflect that there really is no JP connection.]

A cousin of a popular JP bistro Ten Tables could be making its way to Newton — but it will note bear the Ten Tables name.

According to a letter posted by @BeantownDrinks on Twitter, Ten Tables Cambridge co-owner, David Punch, announced that he and business partner Shane Smyth are looking to open a new restaurant at 755 Beacon St. in Newton.

Punch said he would like the restaurant to be "very similar to Ten Tables Cambridge." Ten Tables currently has locations in , Cambridge and Provincetown.

Punch co-owns the Cambridge Ten Tables with Krista Kranyak, founder and owner of all Ten Tables locations.

Punch will be before the Newton Board of Aldermen's Land Use Committee on June 12 to apply for a waiver that would allow the restaurant space to increase to 99 seats and waive the 19 required parking spots that come along with that seating. 

However, in the letter Punch posted, he indicates the Newton Centre restaurant will have only 48 seats. The owners intend for the eatery to be open for dinner from 5:30 p.m. to midnight. 

A community meeting will be held in Newton at the Beacon Street location on Thurs., June 7 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. to discuss the potential restaurant.

The space at 755 Beacon St. was vacated in January when John Dewar & Co., a popular fine food and butcher shop, .
