U.S. Attorney Carmen Ortiz announced Thursday that 66 alleged gang members from the Greater Boston area have been charged with federal and state firearm and drug charges, including federal RICO conspiracy charges related to an attempted murder.

It is alleged that these individuals were responsible for fueling a gun and drug pipeline across a number of cities and towns in eastern Massachusetts.

The year-long investigation initially focused on Boston's 18th Street Gang but later included gangs aligned with the focus - the East Side Money Gang and the Boylston Street Gang, authorities said.

Over the course of the investigation, over 70 firearms were seized.

According to an ATF affidavit published by Universal Hub, Terrones reportedly sold cocaine to a cooperating witness at a recorded meeting; he also allegedly discussed committing armed robberies with the witness during the same meeting.

Other alleged associates of the gang are accused in a retaliation plot following the murder of a reported Boylston Street member and the March attempted murder of a rival gang member on Kittredge Street in Roslindale, in addition to drug and weapons charges, according to the affidavit.

In total, 53 defendants have been charged in federal court, three of whom were previously arrested, according to the U.S. Attorney's office. Thirteen defendants have been charged by the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office in state court. Over two dozen individuals have been detained for administrative deportations.
