Jamaica Plain's Erik Calderone Performs in South Shore Conservatory's Premiere Jazz/Rock/Pop Festival

Guitarist performs during 3-day weekend of music events

When South Shore Conservatory (SSC) presents its first Cedar Hill JRP Festival, an entire weekend of the best jazz, rock and pop music on the South Shore, Jamaica Plain’s Erik Caldarone takes the stage with the Boompa. The festival runs from September 19 to 21 in the Jane Carr Amphitheater at One Conservatory Drive in Hingham. Chateau Edmus is the presenting sponsor of the Festival.

Erik Caldarone leads an active and varied musical life as a performer. He is the leader and founder of the in demand performing group ECG, which finds home in the cross section of modern jazz and indie-rock. He also performs regularly with the formerly Boston based (now Brooklyn based) indie rock group Take Care, whose album Somewhere Safe was marked by rave reviews by both Indie Rock Cafe and Indie Music Reviewer. Erik is currently in the process of recording ECG’s highly anticipated debut album with Bob Pascarella.

Featuring the varied talents of its own jazz/rock/pop (JRP) department faculty members, SSC kicks off the Cedar Hill JRP Festival weekend with a rocking opening party, featuring a sneak peek of the fabulous music showcased throughout the weekend. This party, thrown at a private home in Hingham, is a chance for music lovers to start the weekend off mingling with the JRP band musicians.

Saturday’s Festival line-up includes the Jones River Band at 1 pm, Boompa at 2 pm, Jon Jarvis Trio at 3:30 pm, Rakalam Bob Moses at 5 pm, and headliners Sugar Ray and the Bluetones at 7 pm. Sunday’s line-up includes Till We’re Both Dizzy, at 2 pm, the Timo Shanko/Ed Broms Quartet at 3 pm, and Barricades with SSC alumni guitarist Chris Norton at 4 pm. The festival ends with the entire JRP faculty on stage performing at 5:30 pm. features highly evocative, emotionally driven music that finds home on the fringes of indie-rock and jazz.

The cost of the 2-day Saturday/Sunday pass is $60/adult and $10/student.A Saturday Only pass is $40, and Sunday Only pass is $25.
