Kate-Marie Roycroft, Who Has Family Ties to JP, Picked as Staff Director for State Rep. Sánchez

Roycroft's great-grandfather owned a market on Heath Street and her grandmother was born on Paul Gore Avenue.

State Rep. Jeffrey Sánchez has appointed Kate-Marie Roycroft as his staff director.  Kate-Marie previously served as one of Representative Sánchez’s legislative aides. Kate-Marie’s ties to the 15th Suffolk District extend to her great-grandparents. Her great-grandfather owned a market on Heath Street and her grandmother was born on Paul Gore Avenue.  

“I’m proud to promote Kate-Marie to this position,” Sánchez said.  “Her hard work and dedication to the office and the district make her a perfect candidate for this job.”

Roycroft has worked on two of Sánchez’s Back to School Jams as well as legislation on housing, economic reform, English Language Learners, and youth employment. She is currently planning a book drive for the elementary school of Mission Hill and a basketball tournament for the youth of Mission Main, Roxbury Tenants of Harvard, Alice Taylor, and the Tobin Community Center.

“It is an honor to work in a community that my family lived and worked in for generations,” Roycroft said.  “I’m lucky to have been given this opportunity to help such a wonderful and diverse community.”

Kate-Marie has worked as a legislative aide for Sánchez since the summer of 2010.  She holds a bachelor’s degree from Providence College where she majored in history and minored in business.  She plans to being work on her Master of Public Affairs this fall.
