The puppy will be trained for patrol and explosive ordinance detection duties, police say.

Troy Caisey, the department’s head K-9 trainer, says name suggestions should be “strong, commanding, and no more than two syllables.”

According to Caisey, names like Bronson, Tuco and Solo would be more than suitable.

If you would like to pass along a name suggestion, the department asks that they be sent to mediarelations@pd.boston.gov.

The department says they’ll award the individual who suggests the winning name with a BPD patch.
