Overnight Overpass Demolition in Jamaica Plain Nearing an End
Officials say demolition will end on July 2.

The demolition of Jamaica Plain’s Casey Overpass is wearing on residents living in the area near the construction site. Loud, disturbing noises are keeping folks up through all hours of the night.
“Tonight is the second night of overnight Casey Overpass bridge destruction and the noise is insane. My wife and I are working people and we have a baby daughter. We all need to sleep,” a local resident told the Jamaica Plain Gazette.
On June 14, MassDOT began overnight demolition as part of the Casey Arborway Project. The project’s end goal is to replace the overpass, which directs Route 203 over the MBTA station in the area of Forest Hills, with a series of roadways.

As if the noise is not bad enough, the traffic in the area has been horrid as a result of the construction. In most cases, 10 to 15 minutes have been added to commute times. Others say it has taken nearly an hour in certain areas to travel a couple of miles.
“The opinions of the Jamaica Plain neighborhood were totally disregarded in this plan,” one disgruntled resident told Patch.com.
