Percussionist Brian Calhoon performs covers of pop songs on the marimba in "Marimba Cabaret"
Jamaica Plain local Brian Calhoon performs covers of pop songs on the marimba in "Marimba Cabaret" at Club Cafe in Boston.
Percussionist Brian Calhoon is a conservatory-trained percussionist, but his musical interests lie outside the traditional classical music repertoire. In his spare time, he develops "Marimba Cabaret," covers of pop and musical theatre songs to be performed on the marimba with his musical director, Greg Jukes.
Calhoon, a JP local, is performing a series of Marimba Cabaret concerts at Club Cafe in the Back Bay. The next installment of Marimba Cabaret is Thursday, April 13. The theme of the show is "Confessions," and will feature songs by Elton John, Whitney Houston, Kelly Clarkson, Florence + the Machine, and more.
In addition, harpist and singer Audrey Harrer will be a guest performer on the concert.
