Pitching Proving Problematic For English Softball

The softball team has the offensive component down pat, but the Blue and Blue will need to produce a solid pitching performance to quell their two-game skid.

That was in full evidence Monday as English lost to Snowden 24-8.

“They are struggling pitching, but these kids can hit,” said Blue and Blue assistant coach Anne Minichino.

With the defeat, English slips to 0-2 on the young season.

Kiarry Ortega, Anabel Calderon, and Heidy Barreiro each scored twice for English while Leurice Lorenzo and senior captain Elizabeth Nguyen both crossed the plate once for the Blue and Blue.

“They have so much spirit,” Minichino said of her team. “We’re a young team, but they are really, really good.”
