School Vacation? Not for These Acceleration Academy Students

Most schools, including the Boston Public Schools, had vacation this past week. But more than 1,500 BPS students got extra class time instead of time off. The program took place at the Mendell in JP, plus 14 other schools.

The following is a press release from the Boston Public Schools. Among the schools participating was the in Egleston:

More than 1,500 Boston Public Schools students were in school during the February vacation week. 15 schools participated in the district’s Acceleration Academies program that gives students additional instructional time with great teachers. Teachers from around Boston and around the country apply to take part in the program, which is now in its third year. Another week long program will take place in April.
