Sunday Sanders will talk about “the serious economic challenges facing the country,” said Phil Fiermonte, Sanders' campaign director, in phone interview with Patch.
“We have a crisis of unprecedented proportions, extremely high unemployment combined with under-employment (people who want to work full-time but can't get a full-time job), and people who have given up looking for a job. If you take all those segments together we have at least 17 percent unemployment, and much more in minority communities,” added Fiermonte.
Sanders will also touch on the unprecedented attacks on Social Security, and will explain how Social Security has been an extraordinarily successful program in keeping senior citizens out of poverty, and why there is no reason for it not to continue to be successful in the future.
Sanders will also talk about the aggressive conservative attacks on the public safety net: Medicaid, Medicare, education, and how, if they succeed, there will very negative consequences for people all over the country.
Sanders will speak about solutions, about the need to organize and mobilize to oppose the very effective right-wing media campaign.
All-in-all it promises to be a very interesting Sunday afternoon. The at begins at 3 pm.
