Suspected Gunman Arrested After Riding Bike Into Police Cruiser

A loaded black Titan .25 caliber handgun was found in the suspect's pocket.


Police officers in Boston arrested one man and recovered a firearm after responding to the area of Parker Street and Annunciation Road for reports of shots fired, officials say.

Officers arrested 33-year-old Evan Burton, of Dorchester, and charged him with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, and carrying a loaded firearm.

While conducting an unrelated drug investigation in the area Wednesday night just around 11:30 p.m., officers learned of an individual who had fired a weapon nearby. After learning the suspect’s description, officers observed Burton riding a bike that matched the profile.

Officers attempted to talk with Burton without leaving their cruiser. Police say he suddenly started to act in a frantic manner, seeking an escape route from the scene. Burton, who was too caught up in finding a getaway plan, accidentally rode his bike into the back of the the police cruiser.

Burton was then frisked by the officers because of the erratic manner in which he was acting. A loaded black Titan .25 caliber handgun was found in Burton’s back pocket.
