9th Annual Playworks New England Run for Recess 5K

On Saturday, May 19, join an expected 1,000 individuals, including students and families representing 49 Greater Boston elementary schools, who will participate in the 9th Annual Playworks Run for Recess 5K presented by Playworks New England in partnership with the New Balance Foundation. The event goal is to raise $15,000. Funds raised through the family friendly 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run, which will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Join the Jamaica Plain Historical Society to check out this beautiful area of JP. Developed as a suburb by General William Hyslop Sumner in the mid-nineteenth century, this National Historic District includes one of the finest collections of Victorian houses in the area. The tour includes the ancestral home of the Dole Pineapple Company founder as well as the homes of progressives who were active as abolitionists and women suffragists.

Our community is planning a fundraiser for Scott Berry, a 49 year old husband and father of two. While snowblowing outside his Roslindale home on March 8th, 2018, he was struck by a large, falling tree limb and is now paralyzed from the chest down.
Sidewalk Sale!
Saturday, May 19 noon to 3 p.m.
Saturday dozens of shops along Centre Street from Jackson Square to Hyde Square and beyond will be out and about, thanks to the Hyde Jackson Square Main Street.
Munch on food from neighborhood restaurants, check out the plenteous items on sale, a balloon artist, a juggler and live music. It's all there with the aim of celebrate Hyde and Jackson Squares and the diversity and vibrancy that is Boston's Latin Quarter.
The sale is from noon to 3 p.m. along Centre Street from Columbus Avenue and Paul Gore Street.
