Tito Jackson, Sheneal Parker Advance to November Election for District 7

City Council District 7 covers part of Jamaica Plain. Yesterday, in a preliminary election with dismal turnout, incumbent Jackson took 76 percent of the vote.

In the preliminary election for City Council District 7, incumbent Tito Jackson will be joined on the ballot by Boston Public School teacher Sheneal Parker. Jackson captured a commanding 76 percent of the vote, according to the unofficial tally. Parker had 11 percent, edging out candidate Althea Garrison by 58 votes. Roy Owens had the lowest vote total of the four candidates.

The general election for City Council is set for Nov. 8.

Jackson held an election night party at Merengue Restaurant in Roxbury.

Voter turnout was dismal on Tuesday, with just 13 percent of registered voters heading to the polls for the three preliminary races.

The only part of District 7 that is clearly in JP is Ward 11, Precinct 5, which votes at Elderly Housing 1990 Columbus Ave.
