• Kingston School Committee Moves $311,936 of Leftover Budget Into Stabilization Fund, Returns $1,998 to Town (southshore.news subscription) — Kingston residents should know the School Committee has moved about $311,936 in unspent school funds into a stabilization account, sending just under $2,000 back to the town. The committee also accepted major donations for local schools and approved more inclusive student handbook language, including a looser dress code that leaves hats and bandanas to parents' discretion.
• Nor'easter Winds Down After Battering South Shore (959watd.com) — Kingston was among many South Shore communities that lost power during this weekend's nor'easter, which brought about six inches of rain and wind gusts over 50 mph to the region. While most outages were restored by Sunday night and major flooding was avoided, some nearby coastal areas saw seawall and home damage from pounding surf and debris-covered streets.
• Some towns got more than 7 inches of rain, and it's not over. Here are the totals. (boston.com) — Rain gauges near Kingston recorded between about 2.4 and 5.7 inches from the recent nor'easter, putting the town in the middle of some of the state's heaviest totals. With rain expected to continue into early Tuesday, residents should stay alert for updated forecasts and any localized flooding or drainage issues around their neighborhoods.
