The 2011 Summer Concert Series on the Lynnfield Common sponsored by the Lynnfield Library Concerts Committee has been announced. Concerts are every Wednesday in July from 6-8 p.m. Flyers will be posted at various locations around town and will be available at the Lynnfield Library as well as during the concerts. The schedule can also be viewed on local cable TV, the Lynnfield Library and Town of Lynnfield websites.
The opening concert on Wednesday, July 6 (rain date of July 7) features Evolution, a rock band of Lynnfield alumni and a concert series favorite. Funded this year by Northrup Associates and Cervizzi’s Martial Arts (who will also provide the halftime entertainment). Refreshments sold by the brand new Lynnfield Rotary Interact Club.

A Lynnfield Fourth of July “Horribles” parade will precede this concert with registration at 5:15 p.m. and the decorated bike parade beginning at 5:30p.m. Prizes will be awarded for multiple categories prior to the band’s performance at 6 p.m. If interested in volunteering for this event, please contact Lynnfield Library Concerts Committee at 781-334-5411.
Bob Bachelder’s Totem Pole Orchestra is back by popular demand and will perform on Wednesday, July 13 (rain date July 14). Their Big Band sound is appealing to all ages and will be accompanied by dancing in the streets. Funding provided by The Savings Bank and First Financial Trust. Friends of the Lynnfield Seniors will run the refreshment table, and ballroom dancers are provided courtesy of Kadanse Ballroom Studio in Burlington.

On Wednesday, July 20 (rain date July 21) Brian Maes Band takes the stage at the Lynnfield Summer Concert Series. Having just returned from a Canadian tour as the opening act for Deep Purple, this much sought after contemporary and pop rock band always puts on a great show in Lynnfield. Northrup Associates is the band sponsor. Refreshment table run by the newly formed charity Journeys of Hope for homeless young adults. LaPierre School of Dance students Holly Bourdon and Laura Ricciardone will provide entertainment at the break.
The final concert in this year’s series will be held on Wednesday, July 27 (rain date July 28) featuring Lynnfield High School student musicians led by music director Tom Westmoreland and choral groups led by Doug Hodgkins. Small student groups will either sing popular songs or play rock to jazz music. Refreshment table run by The Lynnfield High School Band Boosters and a free ice cream booth courtesy of Northfield Orthodontics. Wiggles & Giggles, a children’s fitness provider, will entertain youngsters during the break.
The Lynnfield Library Concerts Committee is delighted to offer free children’s activities and entertainment each week. Please make a donation by purchasing raffle tickets on sale at all concerts.
Starting the week of July 13, a new Farmer’s Market can be found at the concerts offering a wide variety of local organic produce and foods for sale (co-sponsored by Lynnfield Recreation). Special thanks to the Lynnfield Public Library and to all our band sponsors for their support of the Summer Concert Series this year - especially in these difficult economic times.
