When this Stars team looks back on their season it's not the wins and losses that they will remember. It's the friendships made and the super strong bond created throughout eight months of sharing blood, sweat and tears. This team of fourteen kids came together to form one of the tightest knit teams ever to suit up. Only they can understand what it meant to be part of the 2013-2014 Mite A Stars. They stepped onto the ice in late August as a bunch of individuals from different towns, backgrounds and skating abilities but gelled into a force to be reckoned with. They became a single unit pulling for one another, worried more about having fun and seeing their teammates do well than the score on the board. It became a way of life throughout the regular season which carried them into the playoffs where they showed grit and effort every time they stepped onto the ice. If you must know, they won the first game and lost the quarter final game which brought an end their season. This article will not contain any names or give praise to any one player. Teams win together and lose together. If ever there was a group of kids who defined the word team, this is it. They might be feeling a little down right now but after a few days pass, they'll start to remember the incredible times spent with their hockey family and the memories they created both on the ice and off. It's been said that, to play the game is good, to win is better but to love the game is best of all. When these fourteen smiling faces return to the ice next season it won't be the wins that brought them back. It will be the love for the game and the chance to make new friendships. Their motto all season was "Have Fun"! There is no denying that they did that. A round of applause for the 2013-2014 Mite A Stars!
