The Fifth Annual One-Pitch Softball Tournament to raise money for the Alexander Peters Memorial Fund, Inc. -- as well as provide financial assistance to other organizations, including Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) plus several local area charities -- is being held on Saturday, June 22, starting at 9 a.m., on the playing fields behind Lynnfield High School.
Alex, a member of the LHS Class of 2005, was killed in August 2008 as a result of an automobile accident in Malden. He was very active in a number of sports, including basketball, football, and lacrosse. His parents, Nick and Dinyce, and his sister, Ashleigh, created a scholarship in Alex’s name which is given annually to two LHS players who inspire others through their hard work and dedication, and who also have fun and can find the humor in any situation while competing -- something Alex was always able to do.

The all-day, double-elimination softball tournament will feature teams from the Lynnfield Men’s Over-40 Softball League and their families along with additional teams (co-ed; ages 18 and over) from outside the league, including the Giggles-Lenny Clarke Comedy All Stars. Food, drinks, and tee shirts will be provided. A raffle and silent auction involving various items -- including Red Sox and Patriots tickets, rounds of golf at area courses, spa packages, restaurant gift certificates, and many other items -- will also be conducted.
