The Mite 1 SL Stars capped off a tough week of practice with two strong performances over the weekend.

The first one vs Melrose was led by captain Will Norton. Along with a great shot, Will used his words of wisdom to get them on the right track...You find that you have peace of mind and can enjoy yourself, get more sleep, rest, when you know that it was a one hundred percent effort that you gave – win or lose.- Gordie Howe Effort was not an issue for this team today. With several 1 team players out, some 2 team players were called up and fit right in. Stevie Migliero, Nick Brandano and Brendan Heffron rotated through the shifts and contributed to the dominant overall success vs a quick Melrose team. In net for the Stars was Cam Sullivan. Cam flashed the pads with multiple big saves and for his spectacular performance he earned the game puck.

Sunday’s game vs Stoneham saw the Stars traveling to Stoneham Arena to face off against another tough mite team there. Drew Carney used his size and leadership to help fire his team up. Carney used a Mike Modano quote for this one, When I work harder at those one-on-one battles I get the puck more often. I don’t wait for the puck to come to me, I go after it. My defense creates my offense.” It seemed to work well as the Stars found themselves digging the puck free and finding their open guy more times than not. The passing was at a high level for this one, including a bang, bang one timer. That one most likely started on the stick of Dylan Damiani who set up multiple goals and scoring chances. His incredible skill shown today earned Dylan the game puck.

Two more in the books for the Stars. They continue to play strong and will need to stay focused when they face Winthrop next week.
