'Big Game' tips from AT&T

From finding a local bar to hosting at your house, AT&T has tips to make this year's Big Game even bigger

Last February, roughly 45% of us either hosted or attended a party to watch the “Big Game”. How do you plan to watch this year? Or, are you among the 50% of the public that don’t plan to watch at all? Here’s how you can make the most of your super Sunday with these viewing tips from AT&T:

Find a Local Bar

DIRECTV Sports Bar Finder is a mobile app allowing you to search your current location for bars and restaurants showing a particular sporting event. The proliferation of big screen TVs across America’s living rooms may explain why only 5% of those surveyed watch the Big Game from a bar. Cheers to you if you’re among the few!

Stream It

This year, DIRECTV NOW customers with a live local NBC station will be able to view the Big Game on supported TV streaming devices or through supported browsers. Cord cutters looking to try DIRECTV NOW for the first time also have a new offer to take advantage of as well. New customers can use the promo code “YESNOW” to get $25 off your first month. Service renews after the promotional period (min. $35) unless you cancel.

If your local NBC station isn’t available on DIRECTV NOW in your area yet, or you’d like to stream the Big Game on your smartphone, tablet or desktop, NBC Sports pulled together a list of ways to watch across different devices:

  • Mobile: NFL Mobile app
  • Tablet: NBCSports app (iOS, Android), NBCSports.com
  • Connected: NBC Sports app (AppleTV, Amazon Fire, Roku, Xbox, Samsung, Smart TVs)
  • Desktop: NBCSports.com

Host/Attend a House Party

If you have a huge TV and plenty of comfy seating, chances are, your house will be party central this Sunday. Invite friends, but not too many. You want to be able to watch the game without running crowd control. DIRECTV satellite customers, don’t forget to hit record on your DVR so that you can go back later and watch commercials you missed or save the game to watch over and over again if/when your team wins. And, if you’re a party guest – don’t arrive empty handed. Ask your host what you can bring!

Take a Pass on Football

If the thought of watching hours of football doesn’t appeal to you, you have options! The Puppy Bowl XIV will be on Animal Planet, starting at 3 p.m. ET, AMC is airing episodes of The Walking Dead, Minions will be on FX, Say Yes to the Dress (TLC) and the entire Hunger Games film series will run on TNT.

Happy watching!
