Brush Fire Burns Over 50 Acres in Lynnfield

Local and state crews battled a 5-alarm brush fire on Wednesday afternoon at Reedy Meadow Marsh in Lynnfield.

“Over 50 acres burned,”, said Lynnfield Fire Captain Michael Feinberg.

There were no injuries reported.

Someone called 911 at 12:20 p.m, to report the fire.

Several surrounding communities, as well as state fire and emergency management officials. The Massachusetts air wing responded.

Formerly known as the “Lynnfield Marsh”, Reedy Meadow is the largest freshwater cattail marsh in Massachusetts. It is located in the towns of Lynnfield and Wakefield. The majority of the Lynnfield portion of the meadow is owned by the Conservation Commission - Town of Lynnfield and National Development, according to the Essex National Heritage Area.
