David Sarnevitz...Aspiring Photographer

Patch talks with young photographer David Sarnevitz, to find out about the 15 year old's passion for pictures.

Lynnfield resident David Sarnevitz is working to get himself established as a photographer at the young age of 15.

Sarnevitz could be spotted at this spring's Geranium Fest selling a few of his prints, an event he hopes to be involved in next year as well. Added to this, Sarnevitz is also a part of the Lynnfield Art Guild and is hoping to get involved in more of their shows around town.

“I received a digital camera for my birthday from my grandparents when I was twelve and it just took off from there,” explained Sarnevitz.

Sarnevitz was taken under the wing of his uncle, Stuart Silverman, another shutterbug who would take him on nature walks and who went over the basic fundamentals of photography with him.

“Nature is something pristine and amazing,” said Sarnevitz when talking about the kind of photography he enjoys most, “like a sunrise or sunset, it's only there for a moment, then it's gone. I like this essence of capturing nature.”

Sarnevitz admits to looking for that “perfect shot” in the candid moments of life that are fleeting, but when captured through photography, can become immortal.

“It has to be something fun, but also something different that people can enjoy,” says Sarnevitz. “I have been focusing a lot with unique camera angles. For example, a wall is just a wall, and taking a picture of it straight on is pretty boring. But, you change the angle on something, and it gives a whole new perspective and meaning to the subject that people might never of known.”

Sarnevitz continues to be on the lookout for that “perfect shot,” always taking his camera on vacation with the family and field trips.

For more serious work, Sarnevitz has done some photography at local area parties and bar mitzvahs and is looking for more work for what he hopes will become a part-time job as this high school freshman works his way through school.

“Photography is life waiting to be captured,” said Sarnevitz.
