How Did Lynnfield's Educators Perform In The State Evaluation?

Ninety-two percent of Lynnfield’s evaluated educators received a score of Proficient on the 2013-14 Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Educator Evaluation.

The results of the study also showed that 7 percent of the 100 educators evaluated in Lynnfield were scored as Needs Improvement and 1 percent received an Unsatisfactory ranking. Not one educator was listed as Exemplary in Lynnfield. Forty-eight percent of Lynnfield’s educators were evaluated, according to the results.

Statewide, 372 districts were evaluated with 86.5 percent of educators receiving a Proficient score, meaning “the educator’s performance fully and consistently meets the requirements of a standard or overall,” according to the survey definitions.

According to a press release from the DESE, this is the second year the ratings have been produced under a new state framework.

“The state’s new evaluation framework is designed to ensure teachers and administrators receive more meaningful feedback than ever before to help them better serve students,” the press release reads.

Once the program is fully implemented, every public school district in the state will be required to evaluate every educator.
