How Many Selectman Candidates Are There This Year?

This week, a couple of emails suggested that people are unaware that there are two contested selectmen's races in town.

Tomorrow night, town residents will have the chance to hear from their candidates for local office at the annual Lynnfield Business Coalition candidate night. The forum is at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Lynnfield High School auditorium.

According to a couple of emails received this week however, it appears that not every voter in town is aware that there are two contested selectman's races this year. Usually there's only one.

For the regular three-year term on the Lynnfield Board of Selectmen, Tom Terranova is challenging incumbent Bob MacKendrick.

The other selectman's race this year is for a one-year term to fill out the remainder of Al Merritt's term. Merritt resigned at the beginning of the year to focus on a health condition, leaving MacKendrick and Dave Nelson as the town's two current selectmen. In that race , is running against .

Lynnfield's town election is April 8th and voting is at the high school. Town meeting takes place April 29th.
