LHS Student Participates In Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership Seminar

Christina Troisi, who will be a junior at LHS this fall, recently attended annual leadership seminar at Bentley.

Christina Troisi has just finished her sophomore year at Lynnfield High School.  Each year Lynnfield High School selects one sophomore to attend MA Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Seminar (HOBY).  Christina had the honor and privilege to be selected to attend this year’s seminar that was held June 8-10 at Bentley University.

To be considered students must submit an essay to high school faculty on the topic of leadership.  The staff reviews submissions and one student is chosen to represent Lynnfield High School.

For over 50 years HOBY has been known as the country’s top youth leadership development organization. Founded in 1958 by veteran actor Hugh O’Brian, HOBY’s mission is to provide lifelong leadership development opportunities that empower individuals to achieve their highest potential. Each spring, HOBY conducts 70 3-day leadership seminars throughout the United States.  During the 3-day gathering student ambassadors meet and converse with leaders from their community in fields such as media, education, philanthropy and politics among others.  They develop leadership skills, participate in community service (Cradles to Crayons) and meet fellow student ambassadors (250) from across the state. HOBY programs provide youth selected by their schools to participate in unique leadership training, service-learning and motivation-building experiences.

HOBY believes student ambassadors who are selected and attend this seminar represent the future leaders of the world—leaders in business, education, government, or any field chosen because they are people who will make a difference.

Christina plans on continued participation with MA HOBY by volunteering for community service programs with HOBY. She thoroughly enjoyed her experience at the seminar and hopes to be able to go back next year as staff.
