Lynnfield Boys Host 3-17 Swampscott Wednesday

The Lynnfield boys' basketball team earned the No. 2 seed in the MIAA Division 3 North tournament and will host Swampscott Wednesday in a first round game. MIAA basketball pairings were released Friday.

The Pioneers finished the regular season 17-3, identical to No. 1 seed St. Mary's and No. 3 seed Hamilton-Wenham, and a coin flip determined the seeding. Their first round game is at home Wednesday against No. 15 seed Swampscott (3-17). The Big Blue qualified for the tournament because of their record against Division 3 teams. If Lynnfield advances, it will face the winner of the Watertown vs. Essex Tech game.

The North seeds are: 1. St. Mary's (17-3); 2. Lynnfield (17-3); 3. Hamilton-Wenham (17-3); 4. Bedford (15-5); 5. Whittier (14-6); 6. Pentucket (14-6); 7. Watertown (14-6); 8. Newburyport (13-7); 9. Lynn Tech (13-7); 10. Essex Tech (10-10); 11. Amesbury (7-13); 12. Weston (6-14); 13. Saugus (5-15); 14. Wilmington (5-15); 15. Swampscott (3-17).

Lynnfield finished 18-5 last winter after going 16-4 in the regular season and 2-1 in the tournament.
