TORIGIAN YMCA WELCOMES NEW BRANCH DIRECTOR TYLER FLEMING
Peabody – The YMCA of Metro North is pleased to announce that Tyler Fleming has taken the helm of the Torigian Family YMCA as the new branch executive director. Fleming will oversee the day-to-day management of the 12,000-member Torigian Y, including fundraising, special events and program development. He brings a wealth of sports and recreation management experience to his new role and served as the branch executive director at the Melrose YMCA prior to joining the team at the Torigian YMCA.
Prior to joining the YMCA of Metro North team in 2013, Fleming spent 15 years working in college athletics, serving as the senior associate athletic director at St. Anselm College and interim athletic director from 2011-2012. Fleming holds a bachelor’s degree in physical education from Whittier College and a master’s in athletic administration from Springfield College.

“Tyler helped the YMCA of Metro North team elevate our programs and services to a new level in Melrose and we are confident he will do the same at the Torigian,” said YMCA of Metro North Chief Operations Officer Kathleen Walsh. “He works hard to give our members the best experience possible, and with the strong team in place at the Torigian, members can look forward to great things.”
Fleming officially stepped into his new role in mid-November, joining associate branch executive Katherine Brenna who has been with the Torigian since last May. Together they are seeking to continue the tradition of excellence at the branch while developing new programs and services for members.

“The Torigian Y is a truly state-of-the-art fitness facility. In terms of health and wellness, I don’t think you could find a better facility in the area,” said Fleming. “I’m very excited to get to know our members, hear their ideas for how we can be a better Y and work to expand the programs we offer the community.”
Fleming is looking forward to growing the Torigian’s youth sports offerings and building the aquatics program when new Aquatics Director, Katy Coffey, starts later this month. Fleming is also developing an advanced fitness program for members seeking to take their workouts to the next level which he hopes to roll out early next year.
“We want to provide a full-circle membership experience for local families where every family member at every age has something they are excited to be engaged in at the Y,” said Fleming.
Fleming welcomes feedback from members and invites them to stop in and say hello the next time they are in building. For information on Torigian YMCA programs and membership, visit www.ymcametronorth.org/locations/torigian/.
