Night and Day

The Mite A Stars walked into Kasabuski to face a tough Triton team who took it to them near the beginning of the season. That would not be the case today. Triton would feel the wrath of a fired up Stars team set on proving that they belong in this league. Timmy Sullivan lead the team out there with a pre-game quote from one of the most respected defensemen ever to play, Paul Coffey... "Nobody's a natural. You work hard to get good and then work to get better. It's hard to stay on top". This team has lived and breathed this quote recently and are fast becoming a team that opponents can't afford to take lightly. The first line of Jimmy Driscoll, Abby Travers, and brothers Joseph and Jonathan Soares know what it takes to get the job done against a tough team like Triton. All four of them were relentless in their attack on offense. Jonathan was right where he should be when he drove home a feed from brother Joseph. Abby has found her stride and if not for some great saves by the Triton netminder, she pops in a few of her own. Jimmy never forgets that hockey is a two way game and always hustles back on defense to break up the play. This whole line understands their roles and continues to put in 100% effort game after game. The line of Cam Sullivan, brother Timmy, Brendan Heffron and Mike Murphy were on fire today as well. Murphy working hard in the corner would free up the puck for Timmy rushing down the wing. Timmy would find an always well positioned Heffron in front of the net. Brendan made a sweet move but was denied by a hot Triton goalie. Mike followed up the play as he should but the goalie quickly tied it up. Cam had one of his best games of the season today, using his speed to pop in two goals, one of them being of the amazing top shelf variety. This line was clicking on all cylinders with all four of them finding their open teammates for some highlight passes and even a one timer. Triton's goalie was the only thing keeping his team in this one! The next line picked up where the other two left off. James and Jack Glowacz, Dion Sacca and Anthony Grabau were all over their opponent and wouldn't let them breathe. Continued pressure in the Triton end by James caused them to cough up the puck to Jack who calmly stuffed a backhander home. Anthony had a great shot himself after working hard to dig the puck free. Dion showed today why he is such an important part of this team, hustling back on defense to break up several two on ones. He also moved the puck cleanly up the boards and had a few nice rushes. Hustle is always preached on this Stars team and Dion had plenty of it today, earning himself the game puck! The relentless attack by the Stars' skaters in this game does not overshadow the incredible job by their own goalie, Stevie Migliero. Facing the number one team head on, Stevie steered away shot after shot with some sound positional play in net. Even on clean breakaways by Triton, Stevie stood his ground and deftly deflected the puck into the corner. There's a reason why he's nicknamed "The Wall" when he straps on those goalie pads. The Stars outworked, out-hustled, and outplayed Triton. The change in this team from game five, when they first faced them, to now, is like night and day. They are playing at the highest level seen all season and are clearly the most respected and feared team going into every game now. If they continue this pace and work hard always, nothing can stop them!
