North Shore Restaurant Smashed By Driver Plans To Reopen In Lynnfield

LYNNFIELD, MA — The owners of a North Shore restaurant that appeared to be damaged beyond feasible repair when a suspected drunk driver smashed into its building are looking to return to Lynnfield two months after the crash.

Owners of School Street Foods are seeking the public's help in facilitating the return to Lynnfield that they said appeared improbable in the wake of the early June crash.

"We never imagined we'd have the opportunity to reopen our Lynnfield location," owners posted on social media on Thursday. "After the accident, we moved much of our equipment and supplies to our Methuen restaurant because we truly didn't know what the future held."

Owners said they are now on track to move back to Lynnfield as soon as this fall.

"But we need your help getting there," owners said.

Owners have set up a GoFundMe page to help offset costs of relocating back to the Lynnfield location.

"Every donation will help us rebuild, restock, and get back to serving the Lynnfield and surrounding communities we love," owners said. "If donating isn't possible, sharing our fundraiser with your friends and family means just as much and helps us reach more people.

State Police told media outlets that the driver, a 19-year-old from Lynnfield, failed to stop for police on Route 1 before the crash and was to be charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and other crimes in Peabody District Court.
