With One Candidate, Special State Primary Tuesday Lacks Suspense

Brendan Crighton only candidate running in election to replace Thomas McGee.

The Third Essex District has a Special State Primary Tuesday, but if you're a fan of politics and enjoy a competitive race, you're in for a quiet day.

Lynn state representative Brendan Crighton is the only candidate on the Democratic ballot in Tuesday's "race" for the Third Essex District Senate seat. The election is to replace Thomas McGee, who departed in January to become the Mayor of Lynn. The Third Essex District includes Lynnfield, Saugus, Lynn, Nahant, Marblehead and Swampscott.

Crighton is currently state representative for Lynn and Nahant. He's a graduate of Lynn Classical where he was captain of the football team. He then attended Colby College and Suffolk, where he earned a Masters degree in public administration. He lives in Lynn with his wife Andrea and son Nathan.
