PHOTOS: A Ruin In The Forest
Part of an ongoing photo series of Lynnfield's open spaces.
Earlier this summer, I ran a photo gallery showing , which harvested Lynnfield granite for over a century starting in the early 1800s. That gallery showed the remnants of a brick structure with a chimney built into it.
However, it turns out that this is not the only remnant of a structure out in the middle of Bow Ridge Reservation. This gallery includes two shots of what appears to be a foundation made of medium-sized stones.
The structure would appear at first glance to be older than the one shown in the previous Kallenberg Quarry gallery. There was also what appeared to be a completely rusted tool in the area. One possibility is that this building was used for something basic, like storage or worker quarters, back in the earlier days of the quarry. But who knows? If anybody knows some background information on this structure, feel free to post in the comment section below.
