Robbery Suspect Fatally Shot by Police Along Lynnway in Lynn

BREAKING: The suspect allegedly attempted to rob a gas station before the shooting.

LYNN, MA — A robbery suspect who was shot by police early Tuesday morning in Lynn has died, according to Carrie Kimball-Monahan of the Essex County District Attorney's Office. Kimball-Monahan said that the unidentified white male has been pronounced dead at Massachusetts General Hospital.

The suspect's identity is currently being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

According to a report by WCVB, the suspect was attempting to rob a gas station on the Lynnway with his hand in his pocket claiming to have a gun.

Citing statements from Lynn Police Chief Kevin Coppinger, WCVB also reports that two officers responding to the scene located the suspect, who approached the officers while refusing to remove his hands from his pockets.

Officers backed up until one fired and injured the suspect, Coppinger said, according to WCVB.
