Sporting their new game whites, the SL Mite 1 Stars are cruising through the first quarter of the season with another strong performance vs. Winthrop. Captain Anthony Grabau delivered a classic Gretzky quote to the team, “A good hockey player plays where the puck is. A great hockey player plays where the puck is going to be.” This team seems to fully understand what that means. From the incredible passing to the great awareness of the play around them, they function well as a unit and are making it look easy out there. Goalie Dillon Reilly was probably itching to get into the action today but he was called upon a few times to make big stops and did a nice job. One of the Stars’ younger players has been hustling all season and put a little extra in today. Earning a well deserved game puck was Jay Carpenter. The Mite 1 Stars have become a force in the Valley League and will be looking for teams to match up against after this first round finishes. Right now, they sit alone atop their division and continue their strong play heading into October.
