St. Maria Goretti Parish Celebrates the Feast of Her Patron Saint

Gesture of friendship and support has become a beautiful tradition between the two churches.

At the 10 am Mass on Sunday, July 9, St. Maria Goretti Parish celebrated the feast day of her patroness.

Maria Teresa Goretti was 11 years old when she was killed and is one of the youngest canonized saints of the Catholic Church. She is hailed as a symbol of mercy, and is the patron saint of survivors of sexual abuse.

After the Mass, members of Our Lady of the Assumption Parish (SMG's sister parish in the Lynnfield Catholic Collaborative), hosted a brunch in SMG's Parish Hall. In August, St. Maria Goretti parishioners will reciprocate by hosting a brunch at OLA in honor of the feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. This gesture of friendship and support has become a beautiful tradition between the two churches.
