Wake up to Wakefield on Sunday mornings at 6:30am on 104.9FM to the ‘Welcome to Wakefield’ Chamber show. This week’s half hour show is all about Standing Room Only with Peter Stickel on special musical performances, with host Wakefield Chamber Executive Director Kendall Inglese.

The Guest caller is world renown musician Brian O’Neill, leader of Mr. Ho’s Orchestrotica,  commenting on the unusual sounds of Esquivel salsa big band blend as listeners are treated to clips of an upcoming show. Brian is scheduled to perform in Boston and then overseas to Europe and Asia as Esquivel sound has taken on a world wide popularity recently as a little known American cultural phenomenon of the ‘50s musical scene.

The Standing Room Only program at the Unitarian Universalist Church 326 Main Street, Wakefield has provided the Wakefield Area this year with unique musical performances to acknowledge the 200th anniversary of the UU legacy. On the Chamber radio show Sunday, Director Peter Stickel describes the American Historical themes presented in the year’s series looking back 200, 150, 100 and 50 years in musical eras, which include Stars and Stripes, A Civil War Christmas, and a Ragtime Era Valentines Concert. The upcoming April 27th Esquivel performance marks the 50th year perspective with the unusual blend of 50’s era retro mix of salsa and bigband sound.
